Mount Carmel School, Mohali celebrated Independence Day with zeal and spirit befitting the occasion. The day started with the morning assembly. The school choir set the pitch for the program with prayer songs. The students expressed their sentiments and aspirations for the country through English and Hindi speeches as well as poetry recitation. The celebration continued with patriotic songs and dance performances by the students.

An Inter House Patriotic Group Singing competition was also conducted wherein students of all the classes of Mount
Carmel School, Mohali sang patriotic songs. The students from the senior section presented a wonderful skit about what the young generation nowadays thinks about Independence Day. It urged today's generation to value the freedom we have secured after the sacrifices of many. Apart from this other competitions like Clay Modelling, Stone Painting, T-Shirt painting etc. were also held to mark the celebrations. The Principal, Mrs. Ruth Thomas in her speech urged the students to take the pledge towards a Clean India, Poverty-free India, Corruption-free India
and a Terrorism-free India to commemorate the sovereignty of our nation. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
